Crows Nest Medical Centre provides quality medical care to residents of all ages and proudly serve the communities of Toowoomba, Crows Nest and surrounding areas.

The practice was established in 1992 as Crows Nest Medical Centre.
Dr Izak Bakker purchased the practice in 2006 with the objective of providing a high level of service to patients in Crows Nest and surrounding districts. Our dedicated and professional team of doctors, nurses and administration staff assist in providing women’s, children’s, family health, chronic disease care, immunisation and ECG services on-site. Home visits are also available for those patients unable to visit our clinic.

New patients are always welcomed at Crows Nest Medical Centre.

MEET OUR DOCTORS

Dr Izak Bakker

Dr Bakker graduated from the University of Pretoria, South Africa in 1993 with a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery and also obtained a Bachelor of Commerce (Marketing Management) in 1986. He worked as a general practitioner in Pretoria from January 1994 to December 2001. Dr Bakker and his family moved to Australia in 2002 and subsequently joined the practice in Crows Nest.

In 2006 Dr Bakker became the sole owner and principal GP of Crows Nest Medical Centre.

Dr Bakker is a Fellow of The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. He has special interests in skin disease and skin cancer medicine and has obtained both a Certificate of Advanced Skin Cancer Surgery and a Certificate of Primary Care Dermatology.

In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his family but is also a bit of motorbike fanatic and loves nothing better than riding along the open road or off the beaten track.

Dr Oran Carroll

Oran has been a medical practitioner since graduating from University of Queensland in 2012. He has worked as a Medical Registrar in many settings around the country, both rural and metropolitan.

He feels lucky to have learnt from leading cardiologists at the Prince Charles Hospital.

His current areas of interest include Cardiovascular Health and Diabetes, and Preventative Medicine.

He is grateful to be a part of the team at Crows Nest Medical Centre.

Dr Sameera Kevitiyagala

Dr. Sameera Kevitiyagala graduated from University of Peradeniya, Sri Landa in 2007.

Sameera moved to Queensland in 2015 and has worked as a medical officer in ICU and emergency settings in regional and rural areas.

Sameera starting working as a General Practitioner in 2019 and obtained his  fellowship of Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2021.

Sameera has a special interest in paediatrics and chronic disease management.

Dr Ewen Cameron

MBBS

Dr Ewen Cameron graduated MBBS University of Qld in 1981.
Over the next 5 years  Dr Cameron worked  in Qld Public Hospitals gaining experience in most branches of medicine. Dr Cameron has worked in General Practice since 1986. After 20 years working in  practices in Ipswich Dr Cameron  and his wife moved to Toowomba to enjoy its  cooler climate and country atmosphere. After growing up on the Darling Downs Dr Cameron enjoys working  in a country practice and  hopes he can contribute to his patients everyday health care and coordinate specialist appointments when needed and help the patient “through the system”.

 Recently a grandfather for the first time he loves to spend  his spare time with his granddaughter Charlotte. Otherwise away from work Dr Cameron enjoys reading and gardening and bush walking and the occasional luxury of travel.
